Six official zones
The contiguous US uses Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific time. Alaska and Hawaii-Aleutian add two more. Business media often quote Eastern Time even when events happen elsewhere—confirm the city, not only 'US time'.

DST exceptions
Most states spring forward in March and fall back in November. Arizona (except Navajo Nation) and Hawaii do not observe DST. Border cities in Mexico may follow US rules for commerce even when the rest of Mexico does not—always verify both sides.
